Response to Chelsea Bronn’s Commercial Gold

I am writing this blog in response to and her blog on the new KIA commercial. I don’t watch a lot of TV that isn’t Netflix or HULU and lets face it HULU picks four commercials and plays them over and over and over again until you want to scream. The Yoplait yogurt one had my roommate and I saying ‘Sup Girl,’ constantly for a week or so. Anyway Chelsea discussed how much she enjoyed the KIA commercial because of the hamsters. The hamsters get a whole new look that’s sleeker and sexier as does the KIA for 2014 all to the soundtrack of Lady Gaga’s Applause. I have to say I like this one better than the first hamster KIA commercial. I found the first one slightly strange mostly because I don’t understand the significance of the hamster representing KIA. However I can appreciate continuing to use the hamster. The tactic of personifying the hamster rather than the car makes it cute while giving it a strange sexy edge that is humorous on the surface and creepy when you think about it. I really like how they had the hamsters working out while showing the man in the process of designing the new KIA. It appealed to my inquisitive nature that likes to go behind the scenes and see how things are built. So the commercial works on two levels. It’s quirky and cute to get your attention, yet puts in the more technical things to give you the information. Very well done.
